Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition

New and start-up businesses can enter to win up to $25,000.

This contest is designed to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and greater awareness of the resources available to grow entrepreneurs in Iowa. All winners will be selected on an objective basis as determined by the criteria set forth below. You must read and comply with the rules to enter the Iowa Business Plan Competition (the Competition). This competition is void where prohibited by law.

  • $25,000 for first prize
  • $15,000 for second prize
  • $10,000 for third prize

The deadline for entering the Iowa Business Plan Competition is June 8th at midnight.  Iowa businesses are invited to submit business information via a secure online program called Gust. A link to Gust is available at www.iowabusinessplancompetition.com

The competition is open to new and start-up businesses (in business for less than four years).

ISU student teams ClinicNote & KinoSol both win $5,000 at Pappajohn Student Venture Competition.

Fourteen student teams representing Iowa State University, University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, Drake University, North Iowa Area Community College and Luther College got the chance to pitch to John Pappajohn and his team at Equity Dynamics for the chance to win $5,000 for their business idea. The statewide finals were held at the Pappajohn Higher Education Center in downtown Des Moines on Monday, April 27th.


Winners of two of the three $5,000 checks were awarded to: Mikayla Sullivan, Clayton Mooney, Ella Gehrke, Elise Kendal representing KinoSol (Iowa State University); Tyler Fox, Morgan Hampel, Justin Coaldrake representing ClinicNote (Iowa State University).
