The College-by-College Pitch Off is back! This event is open to all Iowa State students, no matter your major, because we believe that Entrepreneurship is for EVERYONE!

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Students will compete in one of two categories, new idea or existing business, and are allowed 90 seconds to pitch their concept. A timer will be available to let you know how much time remains as you present. A bell will ring at 90 seconds, and you will be asked to stop presenting – even if you have not finished your pitch. PowerPoints are NOT allowed. However, if you have a prototype or drawing you wish to share, those items will be allowed. Handouts or business cards for judges are acceptable (bring four).  Only one person may present the pitch. Other team members may be present and answer judges’ questions.

New Idea – concepts are in the idea stage – no revenues, prototypes, or products.
Existing Business Idea –
concepts are beyond the idea stage – with revenues, prototypes, or products.

ALL college competitions are open to the first 25 students to apply! If your college pitch competition is full, you will be added to a waitlist.

Registration FAQs:
  • Q: Do I have to be majoring or minoring in entrepreneurship to participate?
    • A: No! This competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all seven colleges at Iowa State University.
  • Q: Does the idea I present have to be in alignment with my major?
    • A: No! You are welcome to present an idea in the focus area of your choice, it does not have to align with your major.
  • Q: If I am double majoring, can I pitch twice?
    • A: No! Please select only one college to register under for the College-by-College Pitch Off. If the majors you are pursuing are in different colleges, it does not matter which college you select to pitch under. Each student will only have one opportunity to pitch.
Never pitched before? No problem! Join us for one of two pitch workshops available leading up to the competitions. Details below (click link to register):
