The Innovation Pitch Competition is hosted every fall and spring semester by the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Learning Community (EILC) for enrolled Iowa State students.  Students have the chance to pitch their business concept or idea in a 90-second elevator pitch to a panel of judges.  Real cash prizes are awarded in the following categories:

Best Overall Pitch –  $1,000 Cash Prize sponsored by REG

Best overall pitch will be awarded to an individual who delivered the best pitch. This category may or may not be awarded to an individual winning one of the three categories: new business idea, new innovation, or social venture.

New Business Idea –  $500 Cash Prize sponsored by Workiva

New concept, model, or venture. Examples may include new retail, web-based, manufacturing, or service business concept.

New Innovation –  $500 Cash Prize sponsored by Ames Economic Development Commission

A new product application, invention, or innovation that may or may not be developed as a stand-alone venture. Examples may include a new product, a commercializable technology, or a social media or web application.

Social Venture –  $500 Cash Prize sponsored by ISU Pappajohn Center

A venture with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. Examples may include environment, food supply, education, healthcare and can be either a for-profit or nonprofit.

Audience Choice – (Winner selected by audience)

Audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite pitch. This award will be given completely separate and without consultation from the judges.

Registration is now at capacity!  We encourage those interested in pitching to still come, and if time permits (around 8pm), we will allow for any late registrations.
