Introduction to the National Science Foundation’s SBIR/STTR Programs for funding Small Business R&D Projects
The federal government sets aside nearly $3 Billion annually to fund the early-stage development of new high-tech ideas being pursued by the nation’s most-innovative small firms. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs are focused on funding high-risk, high-payoff research projects that have significant commercial potential. A significant portion of those funds are awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
