Internship Match Program

Reiman Entrepreneurship Program Internship Opportunity

We offer support to start-up companies located in or affiliated with the ISU Research Park that are looking to hire student interns. For the first semester of the internship, we provide 50% match funding for interns. This can be up to $1,200 in the fall or spring semester and $3,000 during the summer for undergraduates. For graduate students, we will match up to $1,600 for fall or spring and $4,000 in the summer. We completely handle the payroll for you and invoice you at the end of the semester.

General Information

  • Fall and spring interns work up to 20 hours per week and complete 160 hours of service during the employment period.
  • Summer interns work up to 40 hours per week and complete 400 hours of service during the employment period.
  • Interns become employees of the ISU Pappajohn Center and are paid bi-monthly throughout the program.

Reiman Student Intern Eligibility

  • Students must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student of Iowa State University, in any major, while serving in an internship.
  • If students are employed by ISU (including assistantships) during the internship period, they are limited to 20 hours (40 in the summer) between all of their ISU jobs.
  • Interviews and placements will occur at the beginning of the fall, spring, and summer semesters. It is the company’s responsibility to create job listings, interview, and choose the intern they would like to hire.

The History

The Reiman Scholars in Entrepreneurship is our cornerstone experience-based learning program. The program was initially funded in 1997 by a grant from the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and was later endorsed with a significant gift from Roy and Bobbi Reiman in 1999.

Madolyn Johnson (2002) and Jack & Diane Harrington (2009) have also gifted funding for the internship program.

For Companies

If you are interested in adding an intern to your team or would like to learn more about the opportunity, reach out to Ashley Sawyer (asawyer1@iastate.edu). Funding is limited each semester. Undergraduates and graduates (not on assistantship) from all majors are eligible for this opportunity.

For Students

If you are interested in working for a start-up company, we encourage you to reach out to companies in the Research Park to inquire about internship opportunities. You can see all the companies affiliated with the Research Park by visiting their directory. Be sure to share this funding opportunity with them when asking about internship opportunities.
