ENTREBOLD: DECEMBER EDITION

We believe that in the world of entrepreneurship, you have to think boldly.  This is the Age of Entrepreneurship – start something today, and let’s work together.  Gone are the days of going it alone.  Entrepreneurs thrive best where they have communities to draw upon.  The ENTREBOLD newsletter is for you – to be inspired, to discover, take action, scale, and grow.
Happy Holidays from the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship!

As our team at the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship looks back over 2020, we remember with gratitude all of the people who help define the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Iowa. Serving entrepreneurs during COVID-19 has only confirmed the need to solve problems and turn them into opportunities to start real, impactful businesses. Not only do we hope to see more entrepreneurs start businesses in 2021, but we encourage all who can to support the businesses that have been rooted in our communities over the years.

Looking forward, this winter and soon-to-be spring calendar will showcase a spectrum of opportunities in which to engage, learn, and interact with the people and resources needed to collaborate and grow.

We hope to "see" you in 2021!

Wet paint at the entrepreneurship hub on campus!

An artful space for students to create and call their own
It’s impossible to miss the fresh red paint from Ames-based muralist, artist, and CYstarter, Lauren Gifford. The new mural is a spotlight in the Student Innovation Center, bridging the art world and entrepreneurship to inspire Iowa State’s future makers, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

Artist Statement from Lauren Gifford: “This mural is meant to spark the idea of 'starting'!  Let your brain 'blast off' to the ideas that spark something inside of you because you have no idea how far an idea and the ambition to grow it might take you. When I started my business, I had no idea how many turns it would take and how many it may still! The colors reflect Iowa State and the wonderful support and encouragement it provides for entrepreneurial students.”

The entrepreneurship hub within the Student Innovation Center establishes a footprint for the Pappajohn Center on campus. Through a partnership with the Ivy College of Business, the Center officially has a space to host its ladder of programs offered year-round for the e-minded student – we couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come!

Fueled by the belief in the power of innovative design, a generation of interdisciplinary socially-engaged makers seek to disrupt the seemingly intractable problems of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
