The Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship presents the seventh annual ISU Innovation Prize, hosted September 15 – September 16, 2023:
One weekend, three bold challenges, an abundance of rewards

A team of students brainstormed solutions during the ISU Innovation Prize event.

On September 15 and 16, 2023, the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship and the Start Something College of Agriculture and Life Sciences program will host the seventh annual ISU Innovation Prize. Students, faculty, staff, and the local entrepreneurial community are invited to participate in the weekend-long incentive competition.

The ISU Innovation Prize provides the community with a unique opportunity to think boldly. Challenged with assessing major global issues, participants will work in small teams to develop innovative solutions in three focus areas: AgTech, EdTech, and Global Impact.

  • AgTech: How do we increase the productivity of the global agricultural system with a
less negative impact on land, energy, water, and Mother Earth?
  • EdTech: How do we design and reinvent learning for a better experience (quality and
value) in an age of accelerating technology?
  • Global Impact: How do we improve the quality of life and continue to help solve urgent
    issues all around the globe.

Teams will be formed around the ideas that are presented, so it is not required that you have a pre-conceived idea to participate. The competition will conclude with a final pitch presentation from each team in front of a panel of judges. The team with the most innovative solution within each of the three categories will receive a $2,500 cash prize.

The ISU Innovation Prize will be held at the ISU Research Park Core Facility. The event kicks off on Friday, September 15, at 5:00 p.m., and the event will continue Saturday, September 16, at 9:00 a.m. Kaylee Williams, Investment Director at InnoVenture Iowa, will serve as emcee for the event. Thanks to our sponsors, The Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, registration is free to the public and includes food over the course of the event.
