Registration now open for the Smart Start Workshop | October 14 at the ISU Research Park
AMES, Iowa (September 18, 2023) – On October 14, 2023, the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship, Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Ames Chamber of Commerce will host the fall Smart Start Workshop: a comprehensive workshop focused on the essentials of starting a business. The workshop is a community-wide event open to existing business owners as well as anyone interested in or considering entrepreneurship.
The event is split into two sessions, each led by local professionals and business owners. Attendees have the option to attend one of two sessions or register for the full day. Session one is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and session two is from 12:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lunch is provided for those attending the full event.
Session one will cover banking basics, insurance for small businesses, intellectual property, and operating a successful business. Session two will cover the legal aspects of running a business, accounting for small businesses, marketing your business, and business operations.
The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. in the ISU Research Park Core Facility Atrium, 1805 Collaboration Place, Ames, Iowa 50010. Registration is free and open to the public.
