Application: Pappajohn Student Entrepreneurial Venture Competition

Sponsored by John Pappajohn and Equity Dynamics Inc., the Pappajohn Student Entrepreneurial Venture Competition is intended for college and university students in Iowa who have an interest in starting their own venture. Plans will be judged based on a) content/concept and b) viability of business idea. Three (3) seed grants in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded to the top three applicants who submit and present in the final competition. Regional (Round 1) winners who advance to the finals but do not win the top awards will receive $500 per team.

ELIGIBILITY:
• Full or part-time undergraduate or graduate students registered for 2023-2024 academic year at any Iowa post-secondary educational institution are eligible for the competition.
• Plans may be submitted by an individual or by a team of students.
• Teams must consist of at least one student member.
• Teams must consist of five or fewer members.
• Business competition applications must be for a startup business only. Regional directors will subjectively determine eligibility.

How to apply: 

Students will need to submit an executive summary, a one-page Business Model Canvas, and financial projections to the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center closest to their home institution.

Timeline of Competition

Applications Now Open
April 1, 2024 (midnight)- Application Deadline 

The initial submission of Executive Summary, One-page Business Model Canvas, Financial Projections, and Terms & Conditions (signed)

April 1 – 9, 2024 – Round 1 judging

April 10, 2024 – Final Presenters Notified

April 22, 2024 (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM) – Final Presentations at the John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center (Des Moines)

Submission of Executive Summary, One-page Business Model Canvas, Financial projections (3 years), Pitch Deck, W-9 Tax Form
