Scholarships

Each spring semester at Iowa State University, the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship awards scholarships to students who have an entrepreneurial spirit, are studying entrepreneurship, or who have pursued an entrepreneurial venture at Iowa State. Applications must be submitted through the Iowa State Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship.

John and Mary Pappajohn Entrepreneur Scholarship – $2,500 each (four awards)

The John & Mary Pappajohn Scholarship Fund was created through a generous gift from John and Mary Pappajohn. At $2,500 each, these honors are targeted to students of junior, senior, or graduate status who have started or who intend to establish their own business or are participating in the entrepreneurship programs on campus. Criteria used for scholarships include:

  • a demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship (practical or classroom)
  • clear business idea

David Slater Entrepreneur Scholarship – $1,000 each (one award)

Kandice Slater established the Dave Slater Business Scholarship for one student annually in the Ivy College of Business who is well rounded, not necessarily an academic star, but who aspires to be successful in a small business.

Eligibility

  • Ivy College of Business; participant in Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship programs
  • Preference to students interested in small business
  • Full time with minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrated leadership as evidenced by participation in extracurricular or community organizations and activities as determined by Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship.  Examples include involvement in recognized student organizations, professional organizations, or community service.
  • Sophomore, junior or senior classification (preference for sophomores) – possibility of renewal.

David Slater owned Eastern Iowa Grain Inspection and Weighing Service in Davenport.  He loved the outdoors and his family.  David was tragically killed in a boating accident in October 2012. More about Dave:  https://www.qccommunityfoundation.org/news/2014/6/25

Bruce Lambert Entrepreneur Scholarship – $1,000 each (one award)

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in Ivy College of Business
  • Iowa resident
  • Involved with Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship
  • All classifications eligible
